The Origin of Soccer
Tracing back the history of the popular sport

For example, during the rule of the Han Dynasty in China (206-220 BC), their version of soccer – Tsu’ Chu, was standardized. Use of hands was prohibited, as it is now.
Five hundred years later, Kemari emerged in Japan. Unlike Tsu’ Chu, the player is not attacked by the opposing team. Kemari is still played in Japan. Same non-competitive games existed in Korea (chuk-guk) and in Australia (woggabaliri).
There is still no answer to the question of when and where soccer truly originated.
